The museum of Pontianak is also a good place to get to know the history of Pontianak. As one of the five best museums in Indonesia, the Pontianak Museum presents interesting historical and cultural facts.  Historical and cultural artifacts are well preserved, although interpreters here are limited.

The museum of Pontianak has a collection of about 5027 pieces, which are some form of Etnografika collection, Historika, Teknologika, Filologika, Prehistoric, and some miniature Keramologika relating to the history and culture of West Kalimantan. There also are a few Thumbnail closely with culture and history. Thumbnail existing in the park is also equipped with the inscribed stone replica (Poneglyphs), or more familiarly referred to as the inscriptions. In this stone, engraved image in the form of plants and swords. There are also carvings Pallawa letter containing the Buddha's teachings. For the original object, there Pait village, subdistrict Nanga Mahap Sekadau District. This carved stone is thought to be relics of the kingdom Mulawarman.

If you would like to visit this museum, came on Tuesday-Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 hours on Friday or a week from 8:00 to 15:00 hours. For Monday and other national holidays, the museum does not operate.
