Next is a special desserts where you almost never found here in Jakarta is Lek Tau Suan. Lek tau suan is a small yellow beans boiled until soft with sugar water then thickened and eaten hot-hot with Cakue! Sweet taste tends to cause wear anyway, let it hot-hot. Usually one bowl of lek tau suan on the range between 6-8k.
Kwe Tiau crab is one of the famous food in Pontianak. Kwe Tiaw is basically just boiled it for granted and then drained and served with shrimp, fish meatballs, meat sauce chicken, fish dumplings, and of course crab meat. A bowl of Kwe Tiaw crab usually priced at 20rb. These foods are sold around the Gajah Mada street and Tanjungpura Pontianak
Next is Cha Ko Kwe. This food can be said as pontianak typical food, you almost never found it at Jakarta, except Chinatown. Basically this is a steamed sweet potato cakes, or "Ku chai" which is cut rectangles and fried together with egg, dried dried shrimp, soy sauce, and other condiments such as salt. Its texture soft crisp outside with really delicious taste. These snacks are usually sold at night before the start and quite concentrated in the area of Gajah Mada. For a serving of "Cha Ko Kwe" usually priced between 8-10k. Cheap right?
Next is "Kwe Kia Theng", for the one who never heard about it. This food also Pontianak typical food, where you only can find it in Pontianak. Kwe Kia Theng is a wide Kwe Tiaw gravy cooked with broth and cooked with various types of beef and pork inside of the body. Complete with soybean, egg, and soy. Kwe Kia Theng is located at Siam Road and is open from morning until noon. For a bowl of Kwe Kia Theng prices is around 24k, pretty cheap compared to many meat dishes. *(this food can't be eaten by Muslim people, who can eat pork)
Next is Yellow Rice (Nasi Kuning). Yellow rice is also a very famous food and liked by Pontianak people for breakfast. The rice is cooked with coconut milk and turmeric has a very fragrant aroma and inviting appetite. One plate of yellow rice only 12k, and include the price of chicken, eggs, vegetables, crackers, and chili sauce. Very cheap, right?
The last one is egg tart. This egg tart is different from what we usually buy in Jakarta. Egg tart is Pontianak typical desert. It is larger and softer and the texture of her skin is quite different. The pie is usually typical Balinese milk or typical golden egg which is super sweet and quite plain with egg aroma that still can be smell it. One piece on top of the regular priced just 2k, cheap compared to egg tarts right here, right?
